Why hot pink is the most important colour you should add to your wardrobe

Those who have seen the iconic film Funny Face starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire will know the song ‘Think Pink’ by the legendary Kay Thompson and will probably hear the catchy tune whenever they see a fashion advert filled with pink. As far as this film music jingle is concerned, pink is proving to be very appealing indeed, both aurally and otherwise. For us, it started with the all-pink Valentino AW 2022 show during Paris Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2022. Who could resist Valentino’s brighter-than-bubble-gum view of the world? If this is looking at the world through rose-coloured glasses, then it’s definitely worth considering.

Soon after, hordes of celebrities began appearing on the red carpet in the lively colour, which only added to our hunch that dressing for dopamine would include a technical dose of pink pepto. Then, in June, stills of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated Barbie were unveiled, driving an aesthetic that is now better known on the internet as ‘Barbiecore’ – and finally confirming that this striking hue is here to stay.

All of which is to say: there’s shopping to be done. Here, our favourite pink pieces can be worn with a sense of joy.

Between the voluminous sleeves and the cut-out waist, this dress is certainly no slouch, but that’s exactly the point. Wear it to make a statement.

From the ruffled top to the cut-outs, everything about this dress and its fuchsia hue is to die for.

Add a little pizzazz to your routine with a pair of straight-legged trousers in an unexpected hue.

Sometimes the best part of your outfit has to be the shoes. Take a look at these shoes.
